Open Discussion: Maladaptive Daydreaming and Music Addiction. It must be in order.

Music for Maladaptive Daydreamers is seen and heard differently than everybody else.

Its 4d.

I will spell out for you what a Maladaptive Daydreamer thinks, hears, sees, smells and feels while listening to music.Look at this example music list:
BeeGees – Staying Alive, Tragedy, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever

Stevie Nicks– Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back, Gypsy, Rhinnon

Commodores -Brickhouse, Easy, Oh No, Shut up and dance

To anybody else this just looks like a list of enjoyable groups that are nice to listen to.

To a Maladpative daydreamer, it’s a real life fantasy list that’s more than just putting on headphones and enjoying a good song.

EXAMPLE: In the world of a maladaptive daydreamer he/she has rented out an outdoor stadium, hired these bands, sold tickets, has packed the house, and paid the vendors outside. The constant charachters in the daydream have VIP tickets.

The smell of hot dogs, funnel cakes, and other foods fill the air. A storm comes up and its up to you to ensure that the hired bands stay dry and continue performing and you’ve hired extra people for crowd retention to hand out raincoats during the rain.

The groups and the songs on your MP3, or IPOD or whatever you’re listening to have to be in an exact order. If by accident you hit the shuffle button and goes out of order. It’s a problem. It throws off the daydream and messes everything up.

You have to remove the shuffle and start all over from the beginning so the music and daydream can go together uninterrupted.

Non maladaptive daydreamers have no idea what I’m talking about. To them this just looks like an over active imagination or someone whose just overly creative or somebody whose just bored. They do not understand.

Maladptive daydreamers have no choice in the matter. They cannot control the visions or the music and how its listened to. The arrangement on the headphones is not random and no accident. It has to be in that order or the day will stop.

Be courteous, ask questions, be respectful of others and thier feelings.
