Open Discussion: Should you tell your family about Maladaptive Daydreaming?

Most people don’t tell thier families out of fear of being ousted, shunned, embarrased or humiliated some sort of way. Chances are most families of MD people are dysfunctional anyway.

Even those who come from a perfectly stable family, a loving family, and those who have no reason to DD must think twice before telling the family about Maladaptive Daydreaming.

Coming from a family myself who wrote the college course on Dysfuntionalism 101 I’ve listed what family have said to others who came forth with one problem or another. You can imagine that none of it was helpful. This makes it all the more difficult to ask the family for help if you know you’ll get railed and reemed just for asking for help.

Be courteous, ask questions, be respectful of others and thier feelings.
